St. Simons Island Wedding at Village Creek Landing
St. Simons Island, georgia
Caroline + TREY
Some love stories feel like sunshine, and Caroline and Trey’s wedding day was just that: full of warmth, laughter, and gorgeous light. Set in one of my favorite places in Coastal Georgia, St. Simons Island, their wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple: fun and beautifully free-spirited.
Everything about their wedding, from the lush yellow, pink, and sage green color palette to the emotional first looks and the breathtaking coastal views, was planned with heart. It was a day that felt simultaneously classic and free-spirited, which made it uniquely theirs.
Getting Ready in St. Simons
The day began peacefully tucked away amongst the trees in St. Simons. Caroline got ready with her bridesmaids, laughter echoing through the house as makeup brushes swirled and mimosas clinked. There was this underlying tone of calm excitement, like everyone knew today was going to be special.
Caroline wore a Gizelle James Couture gown, and let me just say, this dress was made for her. It had that perfect blend of elegance and whimsical elements, and the best part was the removable sleeves transforming her look halfway through the wedding day. More on that to come later! What really made the morning unforgettable were the first looks Caroline had planned within her wedding day, each one full of honest emotion. First, there was the first look with her bridesmaids. Their reaction when she walked out in her gown? Tears, hugs, the whole works. Following the first look with her bridesmaids was an emotional one with her father before it was time for the big reveal to her future husband, Trey. The emotions were running high, and it was clear, based on his reaction, that the anticipation was well worth the wait.
Tying The Knot on Lovely Lane: The Lovely Lane Chapel
The Lovely Lane Chapel is the oldest church building on St. Simons Island, and its white exterior and stained glass windows were the perfect backdrop for Caroline and Trey’s ceremony. The chapel felt sacred in every sense, not just because of its history, but because of the quiet way Caroline and Trey held hands, locked eyes, and made promises. The way Trey’s voice cracked a little during his vows. The way the light streamed through the windows was like something out of a movie. Their ceremony was classic, faith-filled, and heartfelt. It grounded the rest of the day in purpose and love.
A Village Creek Landing Reception in St. Simons, Georgia
After the ceremony, we headed to Village Creek Landing, a stunning coastal venue with panoramic marsh views, a breezy dock, and that laid-back Lowcountry feel. Village Creek Landing is the perfect St. Simons wedding venue if you’re wanting the blend of Southern coastal charm and elegance, and oh, did Caroline and Trey’s vision come to life here. In their mind, only one thing mattered, and that was to make sure their wedding felt joyful and fun.
Their pastel color popped perfectly against the natural wood and soft golden tones of the marsh at sunset. The florals done by A Courtyard Florist were pure art. Caroline’s bouquet was a mix of bright florals and greenery, while the centerpieces spilled from brass vases. It was colorful without being kitschy, eclectic without being chaotic. It was the best blend of the two of them and made for a cozy escape for them and their guests.
Golden Hour Portraits With The Newlyweds
As the sun began to dip toward the marsh, we snuck away for golden hour portraits. If you’ve never seen the sun set over the water at Village Creek Landing, add it to your list. It’s magic… pure and simple. The sky lit up in soft pinks and purples, and the love beaming off the two newlyweds was indescribable. These are the moments I live for as a photographer. The unscripted, intimate in-betweens where a couple can breathe, laugh, and just be.
A Storybook Ending
When we returned to the reception, the party had officially started. String lights glowed overhead, and the dance floor was full from the first song to the last. I know I may say this a lot, but there was something really special about this crowd. You could feel the community around Caroline and Trey. Not just people who are there to say they are there, but people actually showing up to celebrate them wholeheartedly.
As the night wore on, it became one of those receptions you never want to end. Friends kicked off their shoes, family members passed around late-night desserts, and everywhere I looked, there were genuine, joy-filled moments happening. And then, just when the evening couldn’t get more magical, Caroline and Trey ended the night with a sparkler exit that lit up the walkway. Their friends and family lined the path, cheering and waving sparklers as the couple made their way through the golden glow, hand in hand. The whole thing felt like something out of a movie.
Waiting at the end of the sparkler tunnel was the perfect finishing touch: a vintage getaway car, decked out with florals and a cute little "Just Married" sign. Trey opened the door for Caroline, she slipped inside with a huge grin on her face, and off they drove into the St. Simons night. The perfect end to the most perfect day.
Looking back on Caroline and Trey’s day, I keep thinking about how they didn’t just plan a wedding; they created an experience. One that was filled with intention and so much emotion and love. To Caroline and Trey… thank you for trusting me with your day. Your love is something special, and I feel lucky to have captured it.
